Turkey deploys Osman Gazi floating gas production platform

Turkey has launched the Osman Gazi Floating Production Platform, its first floating facility for processing natural gas, from Filyos Port in Zonguldak to the Sakarya Gas Field in the Black Sea. The platform is designed to process gas on-site at sea before transporting it via subsea pipelines to Filyos, located approximately 170 kilometers away.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar stated that the platform will double daily natural gas production in the Sakarya field to 20 million cubic meters by 2027. This increase is expected to allow one in every three Turkish households to use domestic gas by 2027. The facility is projected to contribute between 3.5 and 3.6 billion dollars annually to the national economy.

The Osman Gazi platform features 21 different processing modules and is designed to operate for 20 years. A second floating production platform is currently under construction and is expected to arrive in Turkey in the first quarter of 2028, which aims to further increase total daily production to 45 million cubic meters.
