Turkey municipalities hold events for World Seniors Day

Various municipalities and local authorities across Turkey organized diverse events to commemorate World Seniors Day on October 1.

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality held a walking event and cocktail for members of the Nilüfer Caner 100 Age House, which supports over 2,450 citizens aged 60 and older through social and physical activities. In Seferihisar, the municipality conducted physical exercises and social gatherings at nursing homes in Sığacık and Ürkmez to promote active aging.

In Osmangazi, the municipality hosted a Turkish Classical Music concert for residents of the BAREM facility. Similarly, in Ünye, local officials visited the Tekkiraz Ahmet Cemal Mağden Nursing Home to meet with residents. In Niğde, officials gathered at the Ahmet Kuddusi Nursing Home to highlight the importance of elderly experience in society.

Beyond social gatherings, Denizli Metropolitan Municipality organized a seminar titled ‘Elderly Rights and Law’ at the DBB Congress and Culture Center. The discussion, led by the City Council Elderly Assembly, focused on legal status, social security, and the protection of elderly citizens' rights.
