Osmania Medical College doctors to strike over infrastructure and training

Junior doctors and medical students from Osmania Medical College are scheduled to launch a strike at Osmania General Hospital on Monday. The protest, organized by the Telangana Junior Doctors Association at Osmania Medical College (OMC JUDA), is driven by long-standing grievances regarding infrastructure deficiencies, clinical training quality, and working conditions.

Participants in the agitation will include interns, undergraduate students, postgraduate residents, and senior residents from all departments. As part of the protest, the association plans to suspend elective outpatient department (OPD) services and elective operation theatre procedures. However, the group emphasized that emergency services and essential patient care will continue without interruption.

OMC JUDA stated that repeated attempts to resolve these issues with authorities have been unsuccessful. The association noted that current deficiencies are negatively impacting residents’ learning opportunities and departmental functioning. They called for urgent, time-bound action to improve the medical education environment and ensure adequate facilities for safe patient care.
