Osmaniye opens 15 July Memory Stop to mark decade since failed coup
On the tenth anniversary of the 15 July 2016 coup attempt, Osmaniye inaugurated a “15 July Memory Stop” (Hafıza Durağı) to preserve the events of that night for future generations. The ceremony was attended by Governor Mehmet Fatih Serdengeçti, Mayor İbrahim Çenet, local judges, university officials, police and dozens of citizens.
The open‑air installation on State Bahçeli Boulevard features digital presentations and technological displays that recount the failed coup and the nation’s resistance. Officials highlighted the stop’s role in keeping collective memory alive and honoring the fallen.
The project was supported by the Presidential Communication Presidency’s Adana regional directorate and local authorities, and will remain open to visitors as a permanent reminder of the democratic struggle.
