Corinthians President Osmar Stábile charged with embezzlement

The São Paulo Public Prosecutor's Office (MPSP) has filed a complaint against Corinthians president Osmar Stábile for qualified embezzlement. The prosecution alleges that between July 2025 and August 2026, approximately R$ 721,194.66 in club funds were used to pay Bear Security for private VIP protection services for Stábile and his family members.

Investigators claim the security firm lacked proper authorization from the Federal Police and that the payments were not authorized by the club's internal control bodies. The MPSP has requested the immediate suspension of Stábile from his administrative duties, a ban on visiting club facilities, and the freezing of his assets to ensure potential restitution. The prosecutor is also seeking compensation for material and moral damages exceeding R$ 1.2 million.

In response, Stábile's defense and the Corinthians club have rejected the allegations. They argue that the security services were necessary due to threats against the president's integrity resulting from his official role. The club maintains that the hiring followed internal procedures and that the costs are consistent with market rates for the complexity of the protection required.
