Osnabrück main station police operation triggered by Softair weapon
A police operation was triggered at Osnabrück main station following reports of an armed individual on a platform. On Wednesday evening, the Federal Police received a tip that a man had handled a weapon on the platform of track 1 before boarding a train to Münster.
In response to the potential threat, authorities stopped the train, which was carrying approximately 200 passengers, and deployed officers equipped with protective gear and submachine guns. Upon inspecting the individual, a 26-year-old man, police discovered he was carrying a Softair weapon designed to resemble an assault rifle inside a locked transport bag.
Investigations revealed that the man had not removed the weapon from the bag at any time. The initial report that the weapon had been loaded was determined to be a misunderstanding passed through a third party. However, the man faces suspicion of violating weapons laws because the required inspection marks on the Softair device had been obscured.
