Osnabrück University students develop ergonomic aids for elderly care
Industrial Product Design students from Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences have developed innovative everyday aids to assist caregivers and those in need of care. This project was conducted in cooperation with the Diakonie Osnabrück Stadt und Land and the Hermann-Bonnus-Haus learning residential area.
Through observations and interactions with residents and staff, students focused on three key areas: eating and drinking, orientation and safety, and care and games. The goal was to apply the ‘DESIGN FOR ALL’ approach to enhance independence, safety, and comfort for the elderly. Professor Thomas Hofmann noted that the project allowed students to experience practical ergonomics and conduct usability analyses regarding the specific challenges faced by these user groups.
