Regional infrastructure and transport updates in Peru and Chile

Various regional infrastructure and logistics updates have been reported across Peru and Chile. In Peru, the mining company Antapaccay completed the rehabilitation of a 400-meter section of the Espinar–Sicuani national road in the Colpahuayco sector. The project, executed by local firm TM Maquinarias, involved removing inadequate material and applying new surfacing to improve safety for passenger and cargo transport between Espinar, Sicuani, and Cusco.

In the Junín region, the district of El Tambo secured commitments from the Regional Government for over 19 million soles in road and sanitation projects, including sewage works and sidewalk construction. Meanwhile, in Arequipa, the Provincial Municipality announced a 60-day road repair project on Av. Virgen del Pilar, which will require several traffic detours.

In Chile, the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications confirmed the selection of four companies to operate a new urban transport system in Osorno, which will introduce 116 electric buses and 37 diesel buses. Additionally, port data from the Valparaíso Region indicated that total cargo moved in August 2026 fell by 11.4% compared to the previous month, reaching 4.06 million tons.
