Ospedale Piemonte to suspend emergency services for maintenance

The emergency room at Ospedale Piemonte in Messina will be temporarily suspended from August 31 to October 11, 2026. This closure is necessary to carry out urgent maintenance work, specifically to upgrade systems in the cardiology and intensive care units.

While emergency services at the facility will be unavailable, all other hospital departments will remain operational. An emergency operational plan has been developed in coordination with ASP Messina, AOU ‘G. Martino’, and Papardo to ensure continuity of care. Patients requiring emergency assistance during this period will be directed to other emergency rooms in the city. 118 ambulance services will transport patients to alternative local hospitals.
