Ospedali Riuniti Padova Sud emergency room vandalized by aggressive patient

A patient in a state of psychomotor agitation caused significant damage and tension at the Ospedali Riuniti Padova Sud emergency room on Sunday afternoon. The incident began around 17:30 and lasted for approximately two hours.

The individual, who arrived via emergency services, became increasingly aggressive toward medical staff, refusing examinations and throwing objects, including a stretcher. The patient eventually barricaded himself in a bathroom, causing structural damage to the sink and other fixtures. Law enforcement was required to intervene and restrain the individual.

While no injuries were reported among the approximately ten healthcare workers or other patients, the disruption affected the emergency department's operations until 22:00. Patrizia Benini, Director General of Ulss 6 Euganea, praised the professionalism of the staff for containing the situation and preventing more serious consequences.
