Osram LEDsBike Race 100 wins bicycle light test
As autumn approaches, cyclists are preparing for colder, darker conditions by focusing on bicycle maintenance and lighting safety.
In a recent test of 13 battery-powered light sets conducted by IMTEST, the Osram LEDsBike Race 100 emerged as the winner. The set, priced at approximately 49.99 Euro, offers 100 Lux of light output and includes an automatic mode for both front and rear lights. While noted for its ease of use and competitive pricing compared to brands like Busch + Müller or Sigma, the test highlighted minor weaknesses, such as potential durability issues with the rubber mounting straps and slight instability of the front light on uneven surfaces.
General maintenance advice for the winter season emphasizes checking tire tread, lubricating chains, and protecting frames from road salt. Experts recommend ensuring that light beams are properly aimed to avoid blinding oncoming riders and suggest using reflectors on both the bicycle and clothing to increase visibility.
