Osório: Decomposed body discovered by children near ERS-389

Children playing on a property near the ERS-389 highway in Osório discovered a human body in an advanced state of decomposition on Saturday afternoon. The Military Brigade was called to the scene near kilometer 4, close to a gas station, after the landowner was notified of the discovery.

Forensic experts from the General Institute of Forensics (IGP) identified the deceased as a man. Physical characteristics noted include two tattoos on his right arm—one being the symbol of Internacional—and the use of orthodontic appliances. The body also showed missing front teeth, which appeared to be the result of facial trauma.

Preliminary assessments by experts suggest that marks on the body may have been caused by animals during exposure rather than by firearms or knives. While a knife was found near the body, investigators have not yet established a link between the object and the death. The Civil Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
