Osteria Convivium offers five gnocchi variations in Lima

Osteria Convivium in San Isidro, Lima, is offering a temporary menu featuring five different versions of gnocchi. The selection, available until mid-September 2026, blends Italian tradition with contemporary ingredients.

Variations include beetroot gnocchi with gorgonzola, which offers an earthy and sweet profile, and Gnocchi alla romana, a version made with semolina, milk, butter, and parmesan rather than the traditional potato base. Other offerings incorporate ingredients such as corn (choclo) and porcini mushrooms, as well as an arrabbiata sauce version.

The menu highlights the historical evolution of the dish, noting that while potato is now a staple, gnocchi-style preparations using cereal-based doughs date back to Ancient Rome, predating the arrival of the potato in Europe from the Americas.
