Osthessen Police Headquarters celebrates 25th anniversary
Approximately 8,000 visitors attended a celebration on Saturday to mark the 25th anniversary of the Osthessen Police Headquarters. The event offered the public a rare look behind closed doors and opportunities to interact with police officers and emergency services personnel.
The anniversary program included a formal ceremony featuring a musical performance by the state police orchestra. Police President Michael Tegethoff reviewed the department's history, noting its evolution from its early challenges, such as the Castor transport operations in 2001, to recent major operations like the Hessentag in 2026. A commemorative film was also screened to illustrate the headquarters' development.
Hesse Interior Minister Roman Poseck praised the daily work of the Osthessen police, emphasizing their essential role within the state's security architecture. Additionally, Fulda Mayor Heiko Wingenfeld highlighted the headquarters as a reliable partner in local security. A notable moment of the ceremony involved the retrieval of a time capsule that had been placed in the building's foundation in 2001.
