Ostia: Gunman fires at Lazio Store storefront

A gunman targeted the Lazio Store in Ostia on Thursday, August 27, by firing a shot at its storefront. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM and involved a masked individual wearing a baseball cap and a neck warmer.

Reports suggest the attack may have unfolded in two stages. An individual first entered the store, potentially to deliver a threat or an extortion demand. After being met with resistance—reportedly involving a staff member throwing a POS terminal at the intruder—the individual returned 15 minutes later, armed, to fire at the glass entrance before fleeing.

The Carabinieri are currently conducting technical investigations and reviewing surveillance footage to determine if the shooting was a warning or an attempted assassination. This event follows a previous incident on May 1, when a firecracker was detonated against the store's shutter. The shop owner was previously linked to the 2021 ‘Alta Marea’ anti-drug operation, and investigators are exploring potential connections between these recent escalations and organized crime.
