Ostra waste plant sale criticized by Liste Civiche

The Liste Civiche political group has criticized the decision by ASTEA to put the FORSU waste treatment plant in Ostra up for sale. The group argues that selling the strategic public infrastructure is a short-sighted response to the facility's economic difficulties.

Despite the plant incurring annual losses exceeding one million euros, the group contends that selling shares for approximately 660,000 euros—far below the original 20 million euro investment—would constitute an economic failure at the public's expense. They suggest that instead of privatization, the local government should focus on a strategic relaunch involving material input optimization, maximizing biomethane revenue, and improving operational cost efficiency to maintain local control over the waste cycle and energy transition.
