Ostrava-Jih hostels Soiva and Hlubina to undergo major redevelopment
Two problematic hostels in the Ostrava-Jih district, Soiva and Hlubina, are closing their operations to undergo significant redevelopment. Residents are currently being relocated from both sites.
The Soiva hostel in Zábřeh will be demolished following its acquisition by the municipal district for 100 million CZK. The purchase, which follows years of difficult negotiations with a Vietnamese owner, covers a 10,000-square-meter area. Local officials noted that the price reflects the development potential of the land, which may eventually host municipal housing. The site is currently empty and preparations for demolition are underway.
In contrast, the Hlubina building will be transformed into a modern residential complex. The owner has agreed to cooperate with the district to reconstruct the structure, which is expected to be expanded to 14 floors. The project aims to provide more than 230 apartments and 200 parking spaces, fundamentally changing the architectural appearance of the site.
