Ostrava metal festival resumes after storm disruption

A severe thunderstorm with heavy rain and strong winds struck the outdoor music festival in Ostrava on the evening of the event, forcing a temporary evacuation and a two‑hour pause in the program. Organiser Patrik Kohut said the weather made continuation a "small miracle" and that safety was the priority.

After the storm passed, the lineup was restored, with headliners Korpiklaani and Soulfly returning to the stage. Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera performed in a T‑shirt bearing the Czech Republic flag, playing hits such as "Prophecy" and "Back to the Primitive" and previewing tracks from their latest album. The festival, known for blending metal with world‑music influences, continued despite some attendees leaving early due to rumors of cancellation.
