Ostrava opens new Ladův park in Radvanice

A new park inspired by the idyllic paintings of Josef Lada has opened in the Radvanice district of Ostrava. The project revitalized a previously inaccessible and waterlogged area located near the intersection of Těšínská and Trnkovecká streets.

Constructed at a cost of 3.5 million CZK, the park features a design that utilizes the natural terrain to help dampen noise from nearby traffic. The space is divided into two sections: one with existing woodland and an open area with lawns. Key features include wooden staircases, natural playground elements such as willow tunnels and wooden animal sculptures, and new wooden furniture.

To support biodiversity and ecological stability, the project includes measures for water retention. The existing stream bed was expanded into a periodic pond surrounded by moisture-loving vegetation. The greenery was enhanced with nine fruit trees, seven willows, and four additional trees, alongside various shrubs and meadow grasses.
