Ostrava skyscraper to be transformed into modern residential tower

A major residential reconstruction project is underway in Ostrava, Czech Republic, to transform a dilapidated high-rise building on Odstrčilova Street into a modern residential tower. Designed by world-renowned architect Eva Jiřičná and Petr Vágnér of AI DESIGN, the project will expand the building's height to 73 meters and provide 111 apartments ranging from 30 to 206 square meters.

The project involves significant cooperation between Czech and Slovak entities. The construction site was handed over to the Bratislava-based company KAMI-PROFIT, and the development is being carried out by a consortium including BBP Stavby and KAMI-PROFIT. Additionally, the investment platform Crowdberry is facilitating private participation, allowing individual investors to co-own more than half of the project.

Once a symbol of the city's skyline built between 1965 and 1968, the building—previously nicknamed the ‘haunted house’—was at one point facing demolition. The new design emphasizes energy efficiency and sustainability, featuring unique balconies with self-watering greenery. The development also includes a nearby parking facility with 185 spaces and new public park and leisure zones.
