Czech urban and cultural developments: Prague, Ostrava, and Spišská Nová Ves
Various regional developments are underway across the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In Prague, the Jiřího z Poděbrad square has reopened following a two-and-a-half-year reconstruction aimed at restoring its historical composition and improving climate resilience. Meanwhile, the return of the iconic Rovnováha sculpture to the Barrandov Bridge is delayed as the city prepares a tender for its replica following its collapse in July.
In Ostrava, the New Town Hall's observation tower and tourist information center will close on November 2 for an eight-million-koruna modernization. Additionally, the Linkcity company has announced the Meet – Středoškolská residential project in the Zábřeh district, which will include over 300 apartments and new green spaces.
In Slovakia, a historical water tower in Spišská Nová Ves has been revitalized into a multifunctional cultural and tourist center. Supported by a 290,000 euro grant, the facility now features a railway exhibition and panoramic views. Other regional updates include new year-round sanitary facilities at the Štěrkovište recreational area in Otrokovice and the opening of a seasonal ice rink at Letná in Prague.
