Ostróda restaurant employee arrested for recording women in restroom

A 51-year-old Mexican national has been arrested in Ostróda, Poland, after a mobile phone was discovered hidden in a trash bin inside a restaurant's women's restroom. The device was being used to record women using the facility.

The discovery was made by a restaurant employee who was visiting the establishment during her time off. After the device was found, restaurant staff identified the owner as a fellow employee and detained him until police arrived. The suspect admitted to placing the phone in the bin but claimed he was attempting to record potential drug transactions occurring in the restroom.

Police have charged the man with recording the image of a naked person without consent. Authorities also searched the suspect's rented hotel room, seizing various electronic devices, including phones, tablets, and a laptop, for forensic analysis. Investigators are working to determine the duration of the recordings and whether the footage was shared with others. A court has ordered the man to be held in temporary arrest for three months.
