Ostuni: Gunshots fired at former deputy mayor Giuseppe Tanzarella's home
At least seven gunshots were fired at the residence of Giuseppe Tanzarella, a lawyer and former deputy mayor of Ostuni, during the night. The projectiles struck the windows of the home, but Tanzarella and his family were not present at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported.
Police and forensic teams have launched an investigation to determine the motive and identify those responsible. Investigators are currently examining shell casings and reviewing local surveillance footage.
The incident has drawn political condemnation, with Enzo Maraio, national secretary of Avanti PSI, expressing solidarity and describing the act as a “very serious intimidatory act.” The event is noted for its connection to previous threats against the Tanzarella family; Giuseppe’s father, Domenico Tanzarella, a regional secretary for the Italian Socialist Party, previously required a police escort due to similar intimidation attempts.
