Ostuni waste management issues prompt calls for urgent intervention

Regional Councilor Tommaso Gioia has requested a meeting with the Extraordinary Commissioner of Ostuni to address waste management issues. The request follows the temporary closure of the municipal collection center on via Tanzarella due to maintenance work.

The closure has caused significant delays and queues at the only operational facility in via Foggia, coinciding with a high tourist season and upcoming local festivities. Gioia has called for temporary organizational solutions or an acceleration of the maintenance timeline to alleviate pressure on users.

Additionally, Gioia raised concerns regarding the permanent location of the via Tanzarella center, noting its proximity to the ‘Gianni Rodari’ nursery school. Residents have expressed concerns regarding odor emissions, prompting calls to evaluate the relocation of the facility.
