Osun State 80-bed hospital remains idle since commissioning
A newly commissioned 80-bed hospital in Ipetumodu, Osun State, remains non-operational more than three years after its completion. Despite being equipped with modern medical tools, the facility has yet to admit its first patient.
The hospital was commissioned on May 23, 2023, following facilitation by Femi Adesina, a former Special Adviser to the late President Muhammadu Buhari. Although the facility was handed over to the Osun State Government for staffing, management, and operation, it remains shut.
While the new structure stands idle, the community’s existing General Hospital continues to deteriorate. Residents face an additional burden as the Ipetumodu Development Forum reports that the community has had to pay for monthly security services to protect the unused facility.
