Osun State Governor Adeleke unveils N500m election violence victims fund

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced the establishment of a N500 million Election Violence Victims Endowment Fund to support verified victims and their families. The announcement was made on Wednesday during a ceremony at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Osogbo, where Adeleke received his certificate of return.

To ensure transparency, a verification and relief committee will be formed, chaired by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun. The governor emphasized that the fund is a humanitarian responsibility and will not discriminate based on political affiliation, religion, ethnicity, gender, or social status.

In addition to the endowment fund, Adeleke stated that his family, through the Springtime Development Foundation, will provide full university-level scholarships for the children and dependents of those who lost their lives during the election period. The governor dedicated his certificate of return to the citizens of Osun State, acknowledging the sacrifices made during the democratic process.
