Osun State High Court adjourns FRSC officer murder trial
The trial of three suspects accused of murdering a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Funmilayo Lasisi, and her daughter, Adesewa, has been adjourned by an Osun State High Court in Osogbo. The suspects—Gboyega Daramola, 39; Sunday James, 38; and Fajemirokun Victor, 36—were brought to court by the Nigerian Correctional Service, but proceedings could not begin due to the absence of defense counsel and the failure to serve the defendants with necessary legal documents.
Prosecutor Muyiwa Ogunleye informed Justice Yinka Aderibigbe that the state had not yet served the defendants with copies of the information regarding the case. Ogunleye noted that the prosecution has lined up eight witnesses, including four police officers, to testify. The case stems from the disappearance and subsequent deaths of the mother and daughter, who reportedly went missing from their residence in Ogun State in November 2025.
Justice Aderibigbe adjourned the matter until December 8, 2026, directing that the defendants must be represented by counsel at the next sitting. The court also urged journalists to report on the proceedings fairly to prevent the spread of misinformation.
