Osun State local government crisis enters negotiation phase

President Bola Tinubu and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke are engaged in negotiations to resolve a long-standing crisis regarding the control and administration of local government councils in Osun State. The dispute, which involves the state government and the All Progressives Congress (APC), has resulted in legal battles and violent clashes.

To facilitate a settlement, a committee led by Presidential Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila was reportedly established to develop a framework for resolution. Officials indicate that the goal is to reach an agreement that allows both parties to settle out of court, thereby restoring normalcy to the local government system. The state government aims to finalize this process before the 2027 general elections.
