Osun State local government documentary screening scheduled in Lagos

The investigative documentary ‘LG Billions in the Dark’ will be screened at the University of Lagos on Thursday, October 29. Organized by DevReporting, the film examines the prolonged local government leadership crisis in Osun State and its impact on public finance, accountability, and service delivery.

Dapo Olorunyomi, publisher of Premium Times and CEO of the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development, will chair the event. Human rights lawyer Femi Falana is set to deliver the keynote address, focusing on local government autonomy, resource management, and citizen rights.

A panel discussion will follow the screening, featuring various experts and officials, including Osun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Dosu Babatunde, and leaders from civil society organizations such as CHRICED and Spaces for Change. The discussion aims to address broader challenges regarding financial control and political interference in Nigeria’s local government administration.
