Osun State Police arrest man for alleged murder of mother

The Osun State Police Command has arrested Taye Kasali for the alleged murder of his mother, Kudirat Kasali. The arrest followed a missing persons report filed on September 1, 2026, after both mother and son were reported missing at the Bode-Osi Division.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to killing his mother on August 31 or September 3 by slitting her throat with a machete. He reportedly led investigators to a shallow grave on the family farm, where her remains were recovered. A machete suspected to be the murder weapon was also seized as evidence.

The suspect reportedly cited disputes over the family farmland, which he considered their primary livelihood, and claimed his mother had threatened to lease the property. He also alleged that his mother had referred to him as mentally unstable. Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Zungura has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure the suspect is prosecuted according to the law.
