West African law enforcement conducts major narcotics and human trafficking raids
Law enforcement agencies in West Africa have conducted several major operations targeting organized crime. In Ghana, the Ashanti Regional Police Command arrested seven suspects during intelligence-led narcotics raids in Ejisu, Abrepo Junction, and Atimatim. Authorities seized 860 Tramadol tablets and other suspected narcotic substances.
In Nigeria, the Ogun State Police Command dismantled an alleged baby factory in Mowe, rescuing two pregnant women and four children while arresting six suspects. Meanwhile, in Enugu State, police rescued three kidnap victims and recovered a Lexus SUV and firearms. In Ondo State, the police arrested two individuals linked to a kidnapping syndicate in the Owo area.
On an international scale, Interpol’s eight-month Operation Jackal IV, involving 22 countries, resulted in 58 arrests and the identification of 263 suspects. The operation targeted West African organized crime networks, such as Black Axe, involved in cyber-enabled financial fraud and money laundering.
