Osun State political figures debate development and representation

Political figures in Osun State have presented conflicting views regarding the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke and the performance of regional representatives.

Comrade Samakin Abdul-Jeleel Abiodun, a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Adeleke, has endorsed Senator Lere Oyewumi for re-election. Abiodun cited Oyewumi’s contributions to the Osun West Senatorial District, specifically highlighting infrastructure projects such as road construction, classroom blocks, erosion control, and the provision of community transformers. He described the senator as an accessible leader focused on grassroots empowerment and rural development.

In contrast, Goke Omigbodun, the Social Democratic Party senatorial candidate for Osun Central, has criticized the current administration for lopsided development. Omigbodun alleged that the government has neglected many communities in favor of projects in Ede, the governor’s hometown. He specifically pointed to the poor condition of the Eko-Ende and Igbaye roads and accused the administration of concentrating appointments within Ede at the expense of other federal constituencies.
