Nigeria police arrest suspects following deadly Osun and Lagos violence

Police in Osun and Lagos states have responded to separate incidents of violent unrest. In Osun, the State Police Command arrested four suspects following an attack in Ikire where armed hoodlums snatched an AK-47 rifle from a patrol team. The suspects, identified as Sikiru Ademola Adedeji, Olalere Taiwo, Olalere Ademola, and Bankole Abiodun, allegedly confessed to being political thugs. During the incident, a suspect known as Ayewo reportedly used the stolen rifle to shoot indiscriminately, resulting in the deaths of two civilians and injuring three police officers.

In Lagos, a violent clash in the Ikola area of Lagos State left three people dead and two others injured. The confrontation reportedly began after suspected area boys demanded 200 Naira from a tricycle operator. The dispute escalated into a confrontation between groups, leading to the burning of buildings. Security forces, including the Rapid Response Squad and the Nigerian Army, intervened to restore order and are currently investigating the circumstances of the clash.
