Osvaldo Weretilneck, father of Río Negro Governor, passes away

Osvaldo Weretilneck, the father of Río Negro Governor Alberto Weretilneck, has passed away at the age of 88. He was in Cipolletti for health reasons at the time of his death.

Weretilneck had a long professional career as a manager for Banco Nación, which led his family to settle in Cipolletti. He was a resident of El Bolsón, where he was recently recognized as a distinguished citizen during the town's centennial celebrations in January 2026.

Local authorities, including the Mayor of San Carlos de Bariloche, Walter Cortés, and the Mayor of Dina Huapi, Hugo Cobarrubia, have expressed their condolences to the Governor and his family.
