Oswald Tweh appointed acting Liberian Defense Minister

Oswald Tweh has been appointed acting Defense Minister by President Joseph Boakai, succeeding Geraldine George, who will be reassigned.

Siaffa Bahn Kemokai, a former aide at the Ministry of Justice, has voiced support for the appointment. Kemokai emphasized that Tweh should prioritize the welfare of military personnel, specifically addressing overcrowded barracks and the poor condition of residential facilities.

Kemokai noted Tweh’s previous contributions to justice-sector reforms, border protection, and security coordination. He also highlighted Tweh’s role in establishing a Gender and Social Inclusion Unit to integrate human rights into ministry policies.
