OSY faces scrutiny over Safe Bus application management

The Road Transport Company (OSY) is facing scrutiny following administrative confusion regarding the ‘Safe Bus’ application, a tool used to monitor the driving behavior of bus and trolley drivers.

On August 31, 2026, drivers were notified that the telematics pilot project had concluded, leading them to deactivate their accounts and delete the app from their personal mobile phones. However, a few days later, OSY issued a new message stating the application would continue to operate normally, claiming the initial termination notice was sent ‘by mistake’ due to the expiration of a previous contract.

Records show that OSY entered into two consecutive four-month contracts with the Greek company OSeven, which developed the application. These contracts cost a total of 70,680 euros over eight months. While the program is reportedly being extended, sources indicate it will now continue without additional cost to OSY, raising questions regarding the terms and approval process of this free extension.
