Ota City murder suspect arrested after fleeing on foot

Police have arrested 30-year-old Riki Mihara in connection with the killing of 52-year-old Yuka Tezuka and the attempted murder of her 26-year-old son in Ota City, Gunma Prefecture.

The incident occurred on September 25 at a residence in Ota City. The victim, Ms. Tezuka, was killed with a knife, while her son sustained injuries to his head. Authorities suspect the attack may have been premeditated, noting that a knife had been prepared in advance.

Mihara, the former husband of the victim's eldest daughter, was apprehended at a pachinko parlor in Takasaki City. Investigations revealed that after the crime, the suspect fled on foot wearing only socks before using public transportation. He also appears to have changed his clothing during his escape to evade public notices.

Police are investigating the motive, focusing on potential domestic violence issues previously reported by the victim's daughter. Mihara has reportedly admitted to the charges of attempted murder.
