OTE and PPC compete for dominance in Greek fiber optic market

OTE and PPC (ΔΕΗ) are engaged in an intensifying competition to dominate the Greek fiber optic market, specifically focusing on Fiber to the Home (FTTH) infrastructure.

OTE currently maintains a leading position with the largest active FTTH footprint, a robust customer base, and a strong presence in the wholesale telecommunications market. The company is executing an extensive investment program, with approximately 600 million euros projected for 2026 to expand FTTH and 5G Stand Alone networks. This strategy is further integrated with Deutsche Telekom through the transition from Cosmote to Telekom.

PPC has emerged as a significant new competitor through its subsidiary, FiberGrid. Leveraging its financial strength and existing national presence, PPC is rapidly developing large-scale networks. The company's broader Strategic Plan 2030 includes approximately 24 billion euros in investments spanning energy and digital infrastructure, while its retail portfolio includes Kotsovolos.

The competition has shifted from mere network deployment to a race for customer acquisition and wholesale market dominance as users migrate from older technologies to high-speed broadband.
