Other Desert Cities makes Broadway debut starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus
The Broadway revival of Jon Robin Baitz’s play, ‘Other Desert Cities’, recently held its opening night at the Hudson Theatre. The production marks the Broadway debut of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who plays Polly Wyeth, a Republican matriarch living in Palm Springs. The cast also features Ed Harris, Allison Janney, Lily Rabe, and Joe Keery.
Directed by John Benjamin Hickey, the play is set in 2004 and follows the dysfunctional Wyeth family during the Christmas holidays. The narrative centers on family tensions and secrets revealed through a daughter’s upcoming memoir. The play, which was a Pulitzer Prize finalist during its 2011 premiere, drew a high-profile crowd for its opening, including former ‘The West Wing’ co-stars Bradley Whitford, Richard Schiff, and Janel Moloney, who gathered to support Allison Janney.
