Other Mommy horror film starring Jessica Chastain released

The horror film ‘Other Mommy’, directed by Rob Savage, has entered theatrical release. Based on Josh Malerman’s novel ‘Incidents Around the House’, the story follows a seven-year-old girl named Bela who encounters a malevolent entity that mimics her mother. The film features Jessica Chastain in a dual role as both the mother, Ursula, and the unsettling entity.

Produced by Blumhouse and Atomic Monster with James Wan serving as a producer, the film’s concept originated from a real-life anecdote shared by Malerman’s brother regarding his daughter. While some critics have noted the film’s attempt to maintain the eerie atmosphere of the source material, reviews have been mixed, with some describing it as a disappointment regarding its execution of jump scares and plot deviations.

Jessica Chastain has noted that she chose to portray the duality of the character through facial expressions and tension rather than using prosthetics to distinguish the two figures.
