Otišić village targeted by hate speech and vandalism

Traffic signs in the village of Otišić, located in Dalmatian Zagora near Vrlika, were vandalized with Ustaše symbols and swastikas between October 31 and November 1. The damage included defacing signs for various local settlements and the village center. The signature “Torcida” was found on the asphalt.

A report has been filed with the Sinj Police Station against unknown perpetrators for hate crimes, including public incitement to violence and hatred, as well as property damage. The report, submitted by Jovica Rađen, Vice President of the Council of the Serbian National Minority for the City of Vrlika, characterizes the incidents as systematic and organized intimidation of the local Serbian minority and Orthodox returnees rather than simple vandalism.

Residents and minority representatives are requesting increased police patrols in the area, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours, to protect citizens and public infrastructure.
