Otmar Oduber to pursue cassation with PPA support

The Partido Patriotico di Aruba (PPA) has reaffirmed its support for former minister Otmar Oduber following an appellate court ruling. While the party stated it respects Aruba’s rule-of-law institutions and the court's judgment, it emphasized that respecting a decision does not preclude an individual's right to contest it through legal channels.

Oduber has announced his intention to pursue cassation before the Supreme Court in the Netherlands. The PPA board noted that they provided Oduber with a two-week period to decide on his legal course of action. The party also sought to distinguish the legal proceedings from Oduber’s political standing, highlighting that he received 2,419 personal votes in the December 2024 election, contributing to the PPA’s return to Parliament after a 20-year absence.
