Otmar Oduber vows to continue political commitment after court sentence
Otmar Oduber, leader of the Aruban Patriotic Party (PPA), has declared that his commitment to Aruba remains intact despite a recent court ruling in the Flamingo case. On September 17, the Common Court of Justice sentenced the former minister to several years of effective imprisonment and five years of disqualification from holding public office.
Oduber stated that he disagrees with the verdict and intends to utilize all available legal resources and appeals to defend his position. He emphasized that his dedication to the country is not tied to a political office and that he will continue to participate in discussions regarding Aruba’s future.
Reflecting on his nearly 30 years in public service, including ten years as a minister, Oduber highlighted his contributions to tourism, employment, and housing. He specifically noted his work with the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA), the development of the Linear Park, and efforts to reduce the work week from 48 to 45 hours.
