Oton Guttert, 92, visits same Osijek beach for 60 years

Oton Guttert, a 92-year-old resident of Osijek, has maintained a daily summer ritual at the Želja beach on the Drava river for nearly 60 years. Whenever temperatures exceed 25 degrees Celsius, Guttert visits the beach, often identifiable by his signature green umbrella.

Beyond seeking relief from the heat, Guttert views the beach as a central part of his life, noting that he has witnessed many personal milestones there, including marriages, divorces, and the growth of new generations. He remains highly active, participating in swimming, football, and tennis.

Local visitors, including Đurđica Škaro and Selma Komendanović, praised his vitality and consistent presence. Guttert offers advice to younger generations to live according to their own desires and needs without rushing into things unnecessarily.
