Otranto tourist village under scrutiny after honeymoon dispute

A newlywed couple, Gaetano from Cremona and Luisa from Palermo, has reported a disastrous honeymoon experience at a tourist village in Otranto, Italy. The couple, who married in April, had scheduled their trip for early August 2026.

The newlyweds described their assigned room as a “bunker” featuring a ceiling height of less than two meters, no windows, missing sanitary facilities, and the presence of spiders and geckos on the walls.

Additional grievances included a restaurant lacking air conditioning where guests were forced to share tables due to overcrowding, and beach services where umbrellas and sunbeds were reportedly assigned to multiple customers simultaneously, leading to disputes. The couple also alleged that the village only accepted payments via electronic wristbands and issued receipts that were not fiscally valid.

After only 24 hours, the couple left the resort and has contacted the Associazione Italia to seek compensation for damages.
