Otsagabia celebrates traditional heritage with reconstructed almadía raft

A two-section raft, known as an almadía, was assembled in Otsagabia as part of the Orhipean festival, which celebrates traditional trades. The project was completed through community volunteer work (auzolan) and aims to preserve the historical practice of transporting wood via river.

The reconstruction was part of an environmental volunteer project led by the Bizirik Gaude association and funded by the Department of Rural Development and the Environment of the Government of Navarre. Volunteers used certified pine wood and hazelnut rods to assemble the structure using traditional methods.

The completed almadía will be permanently displayed in a visible location near the Anduña River.
