Otsuka Corp and 12 municipalities form cross-prefectural disaster response network

Twelve municipalities across Ehime and Kochi prefectures have established a cross-prefectural disaster response network in collaboration with Otsuka Corp. The partnership was initiated through Otsuka Corp’s donations via the corporate version of the ‘hometown tax’ system, totaling 410 million yen.

Under the mutual support agreement, the municipalities—including Uwajima, Seiyo, and Susuki—can share resources such as portable water-recycling shower kits for use in evacuation centers. In the event of a major disaster, such as a Nankai Trough earthquake, Otsuka Corp is also tasked with delivering essential supplies to affected areas.

The initiative aims to overcome the limitations of individual local governments facing aging populations and fiscal constraints. To ensure the network remains functional, the 13 parties participate in regular information sharing, disaster prevention symposiums, and digital transformation (DX) meetings.
