Major OTT platforms are launching new original content to compete for viewers during the Chuseok holiday period in South Korea.
Disney+ is releasing ‘Made in Korea Season 2’, a crime noir set in 1979. Starring Hyun Bin as Baek Ki-tae, the series follows his ascent to a high-ranking position within the Korean Central Intelligence Agency and his pursuit of power amidst increasing threats. The first season was noted for being Disney+’s most-watched Korean original globally.
Netflix is offering two distinct titles: ‘Scandal’, an eight-part historical romance set in the Joseon era, and ‘Kian’s Chaos Season 2’, a variety show. ‘Scandal’ is a remake of the novel ‘Les Liaisons dangereuses’, starring Son Ye-jin as a woman who initiates a dangerous game of seduction. ‘Kian’s Chaos Season 2’ features Kian84 managing a guesthouse in Daegwallyeong alongside new staff members including Kim Yeon-kyung and Lee Jun-ho.
