Ottawa debuts bicentennial anthem in Chinatown
The official anthem for Ottawa’s bicentennial year, titled ‘Heart of This Place (Adàwe c’est ma ville)’, made its debut in Chinatown on July 8. The song was performed in four languages: English, French, Anishinaabemowin, and Inuktitut.
Proposed by the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC), the project aims to celebrate the city's 200th anniversary while reflecting its diverse cultures and histories. The production involved various local artists, including singer-songwriter Jessica Pearson, Inuk throat singer Qattuu, rapper Yao, and producer Philippe Charbonneau.
