Ottawa Gee-Gees defeat Laurier Golden Hawks in U Sports football

The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees football team secured a 20-18 road victory against the Laurier Golden Hawks. Souleymane Camara contributed 135 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Emyl Gregoire scored a one-yard touchdown to help seal the win.

Despite the head-to-head loss, the Laurier Golden Hawks remained above the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the national U Sports football rankings. This discrepancy is due to the ranking system, which balances media votes with ELO rankings derived from statistics and strength of schedule. While Ottawa performed better in media polls, Laurier maintained a superior ELO ranking.

The loss dropped Laurier from No. 5 to No. 9 in the national rankings, while the unranked Gee-Gees moved up to No. 10. The win brings Ottawa to a 3-0 record, tying them for first place in the OUA alongside McMaster.
